Let’s be honest—most of us are not born master potters. My first attempt at the wheel was a disaster. I was sure I’d create a graceful vase; instead, I ended up with a lopsided lump that looked suspiciously like a prehistoric ashtray. (No one in my family smokes, but now everyone has a place for their spare change!)

There’s something humbling—and hilarious—about working with clay. It refuses to be bullied or rushed. Sometimes, the more you try to control it, the more it rebels. I think there’s a spiritual lesson in every wonky mug and collapsed bowl: perfection isn’t the goal. The soul, like clay, is shaped by patience and laughter.
So, the next time your “masterpiece” falls apart, remember: even God started with mud pies. Maybe the real art is learning to laugh at your mistakes—and maybe, just maybe, your soul grows a little in the process.
