I’m so happy after owning the “Portrait of George” for 17 years and trying unsuccessfully for years to keep this iconic work in San Francisco, as I promised the artist in 1981. It has finally returned to the bay area on permanent display. I’ve loaned the work to 25 museums around the world under my stewardship hoping to excite the imagination of the museum going public. I watched for many hours at the de Young, people who never heard of George Moscone or Robert Arneson, stare in awe of this powerful work… My work has been completed. Long live George and Bob!
