I had a studio close to Paul’s Aspen compound. For 2 summers I had a standing invitation to his every other Thursday party when the Anderson Ranch students would come over. It was a constant flow of outstanding potters, old and new friends. He had a great library of pottery including some of Pete’s early work and contemporary Mingei pots. Paul was an accomplished technical potter but I loved hearing his philosophy even more.
My wife and I were married in his aspen house. We lived there for 6 months in winter of 87. It was magical to wander thru his creations I am inspired by his work to this day. His wife Ginny was an amazing painter as well.
i agree
way cool……………….
4:48 is Paul wearing red nail polish?
No, it is orange nail polish, his favorite color…
Clay and Raku have changed my life. Seeing Paul’s work and listening to him, well that has had an effect on me as well. He’ll be missed!
Such a zen spirit. His definition of “raku” was really powerful.
Intro by Jun Kaneko!!! Next guy another famous potter. then Paul in person. So wonderful to see, watch again!
