Each working with clay, but varied in approach, the artists discussed the role ceramics play in their practice and the necessity to work within this medium as part of their artistic output — from Tony Marsh's elemental use of glazing and forms, Jiha Moon's contemporary take on traditional vessels, Matt Wedel's larger-than-life constructions, and the elegant realism of works by Tia Pulitzer.

Mapping out a head for a new sculpture, and hollowing out a finished head on a bust.
Never one to shy away from delicate subjects, Toland once again boldly delivers with her new exhibition, Fairy Tale. Debuting a series of satirical and allegorical portraits, Toland alludes with humor and angst, to today's complex and consuming socio-political realities.
Toland's exhibition, dominated by the looming, contorted face of a King, immediately places the observer inside a fantastical narrative. Other hyper-realistic ceramic characters sit beneath the king's watchful gaze, including three sisters, each with pie in their face and each with a different expression of surprise and horror.
