Picasso Pots

Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) started creating ceramic works in 1940.
Impressed by the quality of the Madoura works, he was introduced to the owners, Suzanne and Georges Ramié, who gave Picasso access to all the tools and resources he needed to express his creativity with ceramics. In exchange, the Ramié family would produce and sell his ceramic work. This collaboration with the local ceramicists spanned 25 years.

Picasso Plate Convervation

Between 1947 and 1971, Picasso designed and created a number of ceramic works, including plates, bowls, pitchers, and vases. Many of these pieces feature “La Corrida” designs, exemplifying Picasso’s lifelong interest in Spanish bullfighting. EverGreene was engaged by two private clients in 2017 and 2020 to carry out conservation treatments on their Picasso ceramic plates. Each had undergone accidental damage on two separate occasions. These particular plates are just two of 200 Corrida plates from 1953 and bear the characteristic stamp of the series on their reverse.

The pottery of Robert Picault, handcrafted alongside Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso worked with a close friend Robert Picault in the idyllic coastal town of Vallauris from 1948-1953.
During this time there was a revival of decorative pottery with numerous key creators – the Massier family, Roger Capron, Robert Picault and of course Picasso who, inspired by the turquoise of the Mediterranean created beautiful ceramic pieces.
Chez Pluie Provence sources original pottery by Massier and Robert Picault, delivering to clients worldwide.
