These works possess a life instilled in them by the creators and there times, something that I think eludes us as potters today.

potters journal I agree and as a potter I tried to take photos, shots of all the angles , so they could be seen. It was difficult as they were an obscure part of the museum. The funniest thing was that in the British Museum , when I was looking for the medieval pottery collection, which most had moved to the London museum, hence here…. I heard an American dad explain to his son that they were so rough because they didn’t know how to get it right yet. I ws aghast.

Thanks for this. Very moving seeing the finger prints in the base of the medieval pots. The V & A has a great ceramic collection as well.

Your welcome. These exhibits use to be in a wonderful medieval room in the British museum, but now have been transferred to the museum of London,. The V and A is worth a visit. Also I have some footage for the Ceramic museum in Limoge which I have been meaning to put together. Also there’s the Potteries museum Stoke–On-Trent. .
